A getaway from the bustling of Rio, the house in Itaipava overlooks a mountainous landscape and, in the foreground, a majestic granite peak. The desires of the owner, a mom of three and business woman, were an one-floor home - secure and comfortable for her elderly parents - that overlooks said rocky peak while providing a clear division between the spaces for privacy and relaxation and the common areas for leisure and partying.
With that in mind, the house was divided in two sections: one for the bedrooms and another for the common living areas. Its implantation envisions that from all points of circulation and common use, the focus is the view: being in the living room, the terrace or the corridor. Different moments of relation with the environment were created: the outdoor with the backyard near the forest and the terrace with a pool overlooking the view; a secluded veranda at the living room and a glass corner at the owners own bedroom. The space creates gradients of seclusion in accordance with the area of the house.
The elevation of the whole construction from the ground associated with the separation between the two sections provides a better ventilation, entrance of light and prevents from excessive humidity and the entrance of small animals.
